Project Ecologist

Job overview

The Project Ecologist role is onsite in Saint Clairsville, OH, with fieldwork throughout Ohio and surrounding states, occasional overnight travel, and extended field hours during peak seasons. Compensation is $35.00–$40.00 per hour. The role supports Verdantas’ Environmental team and ecological assessment and permitting projects. This experienced ecologist independently conducts field studies and contributes technical expertise to natural resource assessments and multidisciplinary project delivery. The role also supports permitting, regulatory coordination, project documentation, and field scheduling, helping projects meet environmental requirements.

What you'll do

• Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, habitat evaluations, and ecological field studies with limited supervision
• characterize wetlands, streams, vegetation communities, and sensitive resources
• collect, manage, and interpret GPS/GIS field data
• complete USACE forms and ORAM, QHEI, and HHEI assessments
• prepare reports, environmental documentation, permit applications, and project deliverables
• support and coordinate agency permitting
• collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and help coordinate field schedules.
