Certified Substance Abuse Counselor

The Certified Substance Abuse Counselor role is onsite in Stockton/Galt, CA. Compensation is not specified. GLOM’s Substance Abuse Programs provide community support and rehabilitative programming for participants. The counselor delivers individual and group counseling, education, and relapse-prevention support. By coordinating treatment plans, referrals, documentation, and crisis response, the role contributes to participants’ recovery and continuity of care.

What you'll do

• Facilitate individual and group counseling and educational sessions
• provide referrals and client advocacy when appropriate
• provide crisis intervention and emotional support when appropriate
• monitor medication and conduct drug testing
• participate in case and chart reviews
• develop individualized treatment plans
• maintain participant files and progress documentation
• provide relapse-prevention counseling
• and support culturally competent, trauma-informed services.

Why this role

Requires a state-approved Certified Alcohol and/or Other Drug Counselor credential at Level I or higher, at least one year of substance-use-disorder population experience, a valid California Class B driver’s license, and willingness to travel 25% of the day. First Aid and CPR certification is required or must be completed before the start date.
