OR Tech Trauma Nights at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami, FL. This is an onsite position. Compensation is not specified. This role supports the surgical team by anticipating the needs of the surgical suite and ensuring the availability of necessary instruments and equipment.
What you'll do
- Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Prepares sterile instrument table as well as gathering equipment after procedure for cleaning and sterilization. Accurately completes all sponge, sharp, and instrument counts and reports all discrepancies to the nurse or surgeon. Positions patient accordingly to type of surgery. Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards. Provides comfort and support pre-operative patients. Transports patients to and from surgical suite. Assists the surgical team in surgical procedures which may include passing instruments, sponges, and sutures. Cleans and prepares room between procedures and after last case
- restocks supplies when necessary and organizes effectively for end of case clean up. Maintains a safe work area. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. Properly handles specimens: Identifies specimen appropriately with the physician – maintains specimens during the procedure and checks with surgeon prior to passing off field. Obtains specific supplies, non-narcotic medications and equipment: Checks preference cards prior to case and makes arrangements to obtain special supplies.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; Operating Room Scrub Technician Certification (CST) Preferred; Completion of an Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or experience working as a scrub tech; Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
