The Manual Machinist role is onsite in Columbus, MS. Compensation is $25–$34 per hour. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Automation Personnel Services is recruiting for a company with a full-service machine shop. The role exists to machine or rework metal parts, mechanisms, tools, and machines to specified dimensions and tolerances. The machinist interprets technical drawings, sets up and operates manual machine tools, checks quality, and follows shop safety and housekeeping requirements.

What you'll do

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications and determine machining sequence and setup
• set up, adjust, and operate lathes and milling machines to make or rework parts to exact tolerances
• use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments
• calculate dimensions, tooling, feeds, and speeds
• measure, mark, and scribe stock
• monitor and verify quality
• position materials using an overhead crane
• report abnormal equipment conditions
• observe safety rules and keep the work area clean and orderly. Simple cleaning maintenance may be performed.
