HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is a 445-bed hospital system serving the South Carolina Lowcountry. This role exists to provide nursing care in the Operating Room on a per diem, call-only basis, covering weeknights and/or weekend nights. The RN will assist surgical teams, ensure patient safety, maintain a sterile environment, and manage necessary supplies for procedures.

What you'll do

• Provide assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases.
• Work alongside surgical teams to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
• Serve as a liaison between the surgical team and patients' families.
• Organize supplies needed for patients.
• Assess patients before, during, and after surgery and maintain a sterile operating room.
• Perform count procedures to protect patients from unintended retained foreign objects.
• Perform interventions necessary to ensure the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level.
• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders.
• Actively involve patient or designated support person in decisions affecting their post perioperative plan of care and rehabilitation process.
