Security Team Member

Job overview

The Security Team Member role is onsite in Durham, NC, with compensation of $18–$22 per hour. Boxcar Bar + Arcade’s team works to make guests’ visits enjoyable and safe at its North Carolina locations. The role helps prevent and respond to safety issues through guest screening, communication, and de-escalation, using physical intervention only when needed and in accordance with policy. Security team members also document incidents and assist with floor tasks when the entrance is quiet, supporting a safe and welcoming guest experience.

What you'll do

• Greet guests
• check IDs
• screen for weapons and outside alcohol
• de-escalate tension according to policy
• safely remove guests who are intoxicated, aggressive, or threatening others when necessary
• communicate by radio and contact local police when appropriate
• preserve camera footage and complete incident reports with management
• help bus glasses or clear trash when needed.

Why this role

Security, military, law enforcement, or other high-pressure people-facing experience is a plus but not required; requires night and weekend availability, ability to stand and walk for 8-hour shifts, and ability to lift, carry, or push over 100 pounds when needed.
