Ophthalmic Technician II (Screening Tech)

The Ophthalmic Technician II (Screening Tech) role is onsite in Rockville, MD; compensation is $19–$24 per hour. The role supports ophthalmologist evaluations and clinical flow at Visionary Ophthalmology. The technician performs patient screenings and diagnostic testing, documents results, and prepares patients and charts for provider examinations. Accurate testing and clear communication of findings help physicians evaluate patients efficiently and support the clinic’s care workflow.

What you'll do

• Perform ophthalmic pre-exam screenings
• obtain and document medical and ocular histories
• measure visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and refractions, and conduct basic motility, pupil, and CVF assessments
• prepare patients for physician examinations, including diagnostic drops and dilation per protocol
• perform tonometry, visual field testing, OCT, and fundus photography as ordered
• document results in the EHR
• review charts
• manage assigned patient messages, prescription refills, faxes, and prior authorizations
• maintain equipment and supplies
• follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection-control standards.
