The Analytical Chemist — Protein, RNA & Lipid Characterization role is onsite in San Diego, CA, in a laboratory setting. Compensation is $110,000–$140,000 per year. The role supports a stealth-mode biotechnology company focused on in vivo gene editing and its lipid nanoparticle gene-editing platform. The chemist develops and executes analytical methods to characterize proteins, RNA, and lipids, producing data for research, process development, and regulatory submissions. The role also serves as an internal subject matter expert and collaborates with formulation, biology, process development, and CMC teams.

What you'll do

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for proteins, RNA, and lipids using LC/MS and complementary techniques
• operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mass spectrometry instruments
• perform HPLC/UPLC, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, and fluorescence assays
• characterize lipid nanoparticle attributes
• support formulation, process development, and stability studies
• author methods, protocols, reports, and SOPs
• interpret datasets and present findings
• evaluate analytical technologies
• maintain equipment, inventory, safety, and data integrity.
