The Embedded Software Engineer — Camera Systems role is an onsite, full-time position in Redondo Beach, CA. The base salary range is $130,000–$280,000 per year. The engineer supports Impulse Space’s spacecraft imaging systems and works with avionics, flight software, and guidance, navigation, and control engineers. The role develops and maintains firmware for spacecraft image capture and processing. It helps integrate imaging hardware, support ground and flight testing, and ensure reliable operation in demanding environments.

What you'll do

• Develop low-level drivers and control software for camera modules using MIPI CSI-2, USB, SPI, and I2C
• interface with image sensors and implement data pipelines
• implement camera configuration, triggering, and synchronization
• support data capture and streaming during ground tests and flight operations
• collaborate with image-processing and perception teams on firmware requirements and APIs
• bring up, debug, and tune camera subsystems in hardware-in-the-loop setups.

Why this role
