The Senior Manager / Associate Director, Clinical Sample Operations role is onsite in Waltham, MA. The salary range is $170,000–$200,000 per year. This leader plans and oversees the clinical sample lifecycle across studies, coordinating internal functions and external laboratory partners. Reliable collection, processing, tracking, shipment, storage, and analysis of specimens help protect sample quality, study timelines, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.

What you'll do

• Develop study-level sample management plans with cross-functional partners
• review protocols, investigator brochures, consent forms, and related documents for sample requirements
• lead laboratory manual authoring and maintenance
• oversee collection-kit design, production, distribution, inventory, and replenishment
• represent Clinical Sample Operations on study teams and manage operational risks
• oversee sample chain of custody and global logistics
• lead sample tracking and laboratory information management system implementation and optimization
• reconcile sample metadata across systems
• develop study- and portfolio-level dashboards.

Why this role

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred. Senior Manager level typically requires 6–8+ years of relevant experience; Associate Director level typically requires 8–10+ years, including 2–3 years of people management or matrix-team leadership. Oncology trial and complex biomarker experience is strongly preferred.
