Senior Software Developer — NYS Tax Modernization

The Senior Software Developer role is onsite in Albany, NY. Compensation is $55.48–$60.48 per hour. The position supports the New York State Tax Modernization Program, which modernizes legacy systems for the Department of Taxation and Finance. The developer builds and maintains tax-related applications, supports maintenance and defect resolution, and helps guide staff through development and project lifecycle activities. This work contributes to modernized systems for collections, taxpayer accounting, and withholding tax processing.

What you'll do

• Gather business requirements and develop automated applications
• program tax-related applications
• develop and review system and program change documentation
• mentor staff using technologies including J2EE, Spring, JSON, JavaScript, and JDBC
• assist through project lifecycle phases
• create unit test plans, test, and debug code
• coordinate code migration to user test environments
• support defect resolution
• facilitate and participate in customer meetings.
